Nathaniel Bassey- this Lagos born gospel artist who hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono in Uyo LGA of Akwa Ibom state has held the Nigerian gospel music scene and gospel music lovers to ransom for quite some time now. Since the release of his second Album with its hit track “Imela” Nathaniel has not stopped dishing out wonderful, melodious, spirit lifting, soul warming jazz like sounds accompanied with the powerful lyrics. Not to forget the sounds from his trumpet, which is his signature.

Since the Halleluyah Challenge (a 30-day midnight worship section form 12am to 1am streamed life on Instagram and Facebook with over 100,000 people streaming live) which caught the attention of both local and international media and celebrities with  over 10,000 post with hashtag “#HallelujahChallenge”  making it the number trend in Nigeria at the time, Nathaniel Bassey has brought more than his A-game consequently becoming the most sort after gospel artist in Nigerian now.

But right now we are not going to talk about the man but some of his works especially the ones that has touched lives the most, so in no particular order let us begin

    1.       Imela  ft Enitan Adaba–

For me and some other people  this is probably the first song that brought this man to our hearts even though it wasn’t his first song. A thanksgiving song which he says just came to him on morning has the wonderful voice of Enitan Adaba. I can remember hearing this song for the first time on DunamisTv and being proud of what can come out of Nigerian gospel music and wishing I had written it

This ‘Soft-rock’ tune from his first album titled ‘Elohim’ which was produced in South Africa  in 2008 has been described as masterpiece and made waves. The song encourages sinners to open their hearts to Christ and I recommend that if you haven’t listened to it you should Download and listen

This is the hottest gospel song right now, I feel so excited. Produced by Rotimikeys and co written by Wale Adenuga this rock like song has been enjoyed by all and sundry and described by professionals as Amazing, Mindblowing, masterpiece, soullifting just to mention a few.
