Tip 7 - Own your stage
No matter where you are performing whether it
is a big stage or a small stage you need to communicate with your audience and
this can only be done if you utilize you stage properly. You also need to
entertain you audience and staying one place during a performance makes you
look rigid and show lack of confidence. Your audience need to feel the song
through you, they ALL need to enjoy you as you enjoy your song, they ALL need
to get the joy of the song from you – with emphasis placed on the word ‘ALL’.
Don’t stay on one side of the stage, get on the stage, own it, use it, enjoy it
and then leave a lasting impression.
Tip 8 - Be Confident
Confidence is a very powerful player in every
sphere of life and especially in entertainment. Even when you don’t know what
to do, behave like you do and this will give you credit, you need to believe
you can do it and you need to make people believe that you know what you are
doing. You need to make them know that you are in charge and that they can
trust you to entertain them. Put a ‘smirk’ on your face, smile when necessary,
and show them you are the boss and they will love you. Show them who’s the boss
and they will love whatever you give them.
Tip 9 - emotions and expressions
Most songs carry messages and the best way to
perform these songs are to show your audience how the song is supposed to make
them feel, try to show them the writer’s intention for the song. Emotions and
expressions are meant to give the lyrics of the song a face as well as meaning.
If you are singing a solemn song or a song that depicts sorrows and pain and
you are busy smiling it will seem like you either don’t know what you are
singing or you are happy somebody died or the person is suffering
